Maxine L. Brown, 93, of Atlantic City New Jersey, was called home to rest on March 28, 2021. She transitioned peacefully at home with loved ones in attendance physically and in spirit.
She was born January 14, 1928, to Wilhelmina (nee Jackson) and Charles Hall of Atlantic City. A native of the resort, she was educated in the public school system and graduated from Atlantic City High School in 1947. That same year she met and married her husband of 37 years, Newton A. Brown, Jr., a postal carrier.
Maxine was a faithful member of Atlantic City's Union Baptist Temple. She was a member and consecutive past president of both the Children's Art Foundation and Golden Circle Club (Seniors).
Her twenty year work history includes employment at NAFEC as an Air Traffic Control Simulator Operator, the OIC Program/AC as a fiscal officer, Atlantic Human Resources as a Neighbor Coordinator and the VIP Program - first as a Community Organization Specialist and retiring in 1996, as a Loan Advisor.
Maxine is survived by: her children, Newton A. Brown, III (Wendy) and Michele Pitts (Charles); grandsons, Kaleef Sahibs (Lisa) and Michael Jones (Brittney); great-grandson, Kariem Shabazz; and a host of other family and friends. She is predeceased by: her parents, Wilhelmina and Charles Hall; husband, Newton Brown; sisters, Dorothea Moore, Ella Thomas-Hamilton and Ada McClinton. Interment will be 1PM, Saturday, April 3, 2021, Atlantic City Cemetery, Pleasantville.
