On Tuesday, March 7, 2023, Mary passed away peacefully after a sudden illness. She was in her 87th year. Mary was born in Richmond Hill on May 26, 1936, the last-but-not-least of 4 girls born to George and Maggie May (née McGillivray) Walwin. She moved to Weston, Ontario in 1945 where she attended Memorial School and Weston Collegiate, building deep friendships that would remain so throughout her life. She was a 1958 nursing graduate from Toronto General Hospital and worked in the operating room at both TGH and Humber Memorial Hospital. On Feb. 25, 1961, she married Gary Seagrave, whom she knew through school and church. She and Gary settled in Etobicoke where they raised 4 children. Mary was a loving wife, accomplished home economist, and wonderful mother, highly skilled in more ways than she ever gave herself credit for. Once the family was grown, Mary worked part time for Dr. Rodgerson in his general practice. During the Weston and Etobicoke years, Mary was very involved at Weston Presbyterian Church in the PAX class, choir, and other groups. She took up Scottish Country Dancing, coaxing Gary to join her, which further expanded her friend group. When Gary retired in 1997, he and Mary built a new home in Foster's Forest near Bond Head, Ontario. They searched for a new church family and became active members at St. John's Presbyterian Church in Bradford. During this time, Mary became an avid and accomplished machine quilter (thank you, Country Concessions!). She and Gary travelled extensively and were dedicated supporters of live theatre, and musical performances and festivals. Mary's favourite place was the family cottage at Woodland Beach. It was the one place where she was assured that her children and grandchildren would gather almost every weekend from May to September, establishing some of our most enduring memories - family BBQs, friends and neighbours around the fire pit, sunsets and wine, fireworks, puzzles and games, sand castles and swimming, leisurely afternoons of reading, and so much more. Mary is survived by her beloved husband, Gary; her treasured children, Catherine (Greg Thacker), Carolyn (Paul Robinson), Gillian (Phil Curry), and David (Adaire Hennessey); her adored grandchildren, Chelsea, Preston, Amanda, Emily, Elizabeth, and Elliote; her dear sister, Margaret; and so many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is predeceased by two loved sisters, Jean and Anne. She will be greatly missed by so many people who's lives she touched in such extraordinary ways. The measure of a life well lived is how much you love and are loved, and Mary had both in spades. There will be a private family funeral. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2023, from 2:00-5:00 PM at St. John's Presbyterian Church in Bradford, Ontario. Gary and the family invite all of Mary's relatives, friends, and colleagues to join them in sharing memories and tributes. In lieu of flowers, donations to Stevenson Memorial Hospital in Alliston, Ontario, or Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket, Ontario through the Southlake Foundation would be greatly appreciated.

My Tribute Gift Foundation makes this online charitable giving portal web page MyTributeGift.org (the “Website”) available to you subject to your acceptance of and compliance with these terms of use (the “Terms of Use”). An official tax receipt for your donation will be issued by My Tribute Gift Foundation. Donations are sent out to charities at the end of each month for all donations received in that previous month. So a donation made on the first day of the month would be sent at the same time as one made on last day. Payments would be sent either by paper check or direct deposit. Please note that the there is 3% + 35¢/transaction fee for credit card processing, My Tribute Gift Foundation collects a 5% administrative fee. These fees help fund the cost of processing all donations, issuing tax receipts, and sending all appropriate information to the selected charity. These fees are assumed by your selected charity, but you will receive a receipt for the full amount of your donation. There are NO additional costs the charity has to endure to participate and accept donations through MyTributeGift.org. According to the American Institute for Philanthropy (charitywatch.org) a charitable organization is considered “Good” if they are spending less than 30% on administration and fundraising costs. My Tribute Gift Foundation helps reduce those administrative costs for charities and allows donors to contribute to lasting memorials for their loved ones.
When donating online, if the donation form has an option to add a tip, there is no convenience fee. The tip is optional and can be adjusted before you submit your donation. The amount of the tip will be displayed to you before you confirm the charge to your payment card. Tips are in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount that goes to the charitable organization. Under IRS and CRA rules, tips are not tax deductible to the donor.

Scope of Limitations and Disclaimers. Indemnity. YOU AGREE TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS THE FOUNDATION PARTIES FROM AND AGAINST ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, DEMANDS, ACTIONS, SUITS AND PROCEEDINGS BROUGHT BY YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY (COLLECTIVELY "CLAIMS") ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THIS SITE IN BREACH OF THESE TERMS OF USE OR THE INFRINGEMENT BY YOU OF ANY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS OF ANY PERSON OR ENTITY, INCLUDING ALL LOSSES, LIABILITIES, DAMAGES, COSTS AND EXPENSES (INCLUDING ALL LEGAL FEES) ARISING FROM SUCH CLAIMS.
If in any part of these Terms of Use is held, by a court of competent jurisdiction, to be invalid or unenforceable, such part of these Terms of Use shall be eliminated to the extent permitted in that jurisdiction, for purposes of that jurisdiction, and the remaining Terms of Use shall otherwise remain in full force and effect.
These Terms of Use and your use of the Website are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and all federal laws of Canada applicable therein. The courts of the Province of Ontario shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of these Terms of Use or your use of the Website.
These Terms of Use constitute the entire agreement between you and My Tribute Gift Foundation with respect to the Website, except as we may explicitly agree otherwise in writing.. No delay or failure to exercise any right with respect to these Terms of Use shall be construed as a waiver by My Tribute Gift Foundation.
As a donor, you are responsible for researching the charity, understanding how your money will be used, and understanding the tax implications of your donation. We will email you a receipt, but the deductibility of your donation depends on your individual tax situation. We are not financial, tax, or legal experts. Please do not rely on our information to make decisions about your finances, taxes or legal matters. Consult a qualified professional in your jurisdiction.
Participating organizations have chosen to actively participate in the “Sponsor Program” to be represented in the Sponsor Charity array in an effort to increase their exposure and the opportunity for more memorial donations to be made to their organization. A rate structure is agreed upon and assessed on each donation processed through that program according to each organization’s individual agreement. Giving through that program has helped many organizations realize a drastic and significant increase in net donations.
If a donation form has a line item of Convenience Fee. The Convenience fee is displayed to you prior to approving the charge to your payment card. The convenience fee is in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount reaching the charitable organization. For example, a $100 donation becomes a $101.50 transaction. The convenience fee is directed immediately to a for-profit service provider. According to IRS and CRA rules the tax deductible receipt will therefore only be issued for the subtotal amount.
My Tribute Gift Foundation seeks to distribute all funds to organizations provided they have maintained active 501c3 certification in the United States or registered charity status in Canada. MTG relies on the beneficiary organizations to maintain and keep up to date contact information on file with the IRS or CRA respectively. This must be done in order for My Tribute Gift Foundation to exercise care and reasonable efforts to distribute payment promptly, without undue cost and burden to the foundation. In the event that a payment has not been deposited 12 months from issuance, the foundation reserves the right to utilize those funds in its mission to the foundation.
My Tribute Gift Foundation reserves the right to modify, change, discontinue and suspend these Terms of Use, the Website, and/or any services offered through the Website, in whole or in part, at any time, without prior notice to you. Your continued access or use of the Website after modifications to these Terms of Use have been posted on the Website shall indicate your acceptance of and agreement to be bound by these Terms of Use as modified. It is your responsibility to review these Terms of Use regularly.
