Josephine Patricia (JoPat) Paradiso Wright Age 77, of Watkins Glen, died March 20, 2020 in Florida, surrounded by her 3 children and her loving and devoted husband. Born the youngest of 5 to Orazio Paradiso and Angeline Paradiso–Specchio, JoPat grew up in Watkins Glen, NY. From her front porch on 2nd Street, she could literally have conversations with most of the Paradiso family. She worked in the family business on Franklin Street, Snack-n-Shake, through her formative years. She knew early on what career path she was destined for-so upon graduating WGHS in 1961, she attended St. Joseph’s Nursing School. JoPat worked locally as a nurse for a few years before moving to California in 1968. This would prove to be a wise decision, as later that same year she would meet her future life partner and husband (Jack Wright Sr.). They were married on December 19, 1970 and have been inseparable ever since. Shortly after the births of their first 2 children, JoPat decided it was time to raise her family the only way she knew, around family. So, in 1974 back to WG they went. Soon after returning home, their third child arrived. Here, JoPat continued her nursing career. She helped establish one of the first ICU’s in upstate NY. Later, she became the Director of Nursing at Schuyler Hospital. Eventually, she achieved her longtime goal of being a nurse practitioner. This led to a lifetime devotion of family practice, both personally and professionally. In addition to remaining a nurse, JoPat embarked on a second career path. In 1981, JoPat and Jack purchased a local beverage store. This would come to be known as Wrights Beverages. A few years later, Wrights Liquor Loft & Wine Cellar were added. Also, they owned and managed several rental properties throughout the village. Upon retirement in 2007, Jack & JoPat split their time between NY and Florida. JoPat had many interests. She was an avid reader, elaborate storyteller, and party planner extraordinaire. She loved politics and spent many years running the local planning board, as well as serving as a village trustee for several years. She has also been a long-time member of the WGHS Alumni Association board, which was particularly close to her heart. What she cherished the most was family, this encompassed the entirety of all Paradiso’s, Wright’s, and beyond. JoPat is survived by her loving husband Jack Sr.; son, Jack Jr.(Christine); daughter, Tina, grandson Aiden; son, Scott (Barbara), granddaughter, Alexandra Waite (Travis, Paige, Emmett); sister, Mary (Dave) Cook; brothers-in-law, Ken (Peggy) Wright, Phillip (Irene) Wright, Gordon (Carol) Wright, Mitchell (Sylvia) Wright, Roger (Shauna) Wright; sisters-in-law, Nancy Parr, Susie (Moll) Malin, Cindy (George) Nolan, Bonnie (Cliff) Schaffer, Pam (Sherry) Wright and Elizabeth Paradiso. She was predeceased by brothers, Paul (Carol) Paradiso, Bob Paradiso, and Jim Paradiso; sister, Cliss Paradiso; sister-in-law, Sandy Wright; and brother-in-law, Steve Parr. If you were fortunate enough to have referred to her as JoPat, Aunt Jo, or Mrs. Wright, then you know how important and special each and every one of you were to her. To name you all would be impossible. Everyone who remembers her is asked to celebrate JoPat’s life in their own way, raising a glass of your favorite drink in her memory would be quite appropriate. Instead of flowers, JoPat would hope that you will do an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness for someone in need in her name. However, if you prefer a donation, we ask that you donate to Pawz & Purrz Animal Rescue, Inc. P.O. Box 466, Painted Post, NY 14870 (or online at PawzAndPurrz.org). JoPat’s daughter is one of the founders of this animal rescue. This organization means a great deal to her. The current circumstances of the world will, unfortunately, delay JoPat’s scheduled celebration of life. However, this will take place in Watkins Glen, NY at a date and destination to be determined later. Your donation will be processed through My Tribute Gift Foundation for distribution to your selected charity. Your credit card transaction record will appear as My Tribute Gift Foundation. An official tax receipt for your donation will be issued by My Tribute Gift Foundation. Donations are sent out to charities at the end of each month for all donations received in that previous month. So a donation made on the first day of the month would be sent at the same time as one made on last day. Payments would be sent either by paper check or direct deposit. Please note that the there is 3% + 35¢/transaction fee for credit card processing, My Tribute Gift Foundation collects a 5% administrative fee. These fees help fund the cost of processing all donations, issuing tax receipts, and sending all appropriate information to the selected charity. These fees are assumed by your selected charity, but you will receive a receipt for the full amount of your donation. There are NO additional costs the charity has to endure to participate and accept donations through MyTributeGift.org. According to the American Institute for Philanthropy (charitywatch.org) a charitable organization is considered “Good” if they are spending less than 30% on administration and fundraising costs. My Tribute Gift Foundation helps reduce those administrative costs for charities and allows donors to contribute to lasting memorials for their loved ones.
When donating online, if the donation form has an option to add a tip, there is no convenience fee. The tip is optional and can be adjusted before you submit your donation. The amount of the tip will be displayed to you before you confirm the charge to your payment card. Tips are in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount that goes to the charitable organization. Under IRS and CRA rules, tips are not tax deductible to the donor.
You warrant and represent that all information and materials you provide to My Tribute Gift Foundation, through the Website or otherwise, are accurate and truthful and do not violate third party rights. TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL MY TRIBUTE GIFT FOUNDATION OR ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, SERVICE PROVIDERS, AND AGENTS (THE "FOUNDATION PARTIES") BE LIABLE FOR ANY: (i) INDIRECT, CONSEQUENTIAL, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, COMPENSATORY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES; (ii) DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF INCOME, LOSS OF PROFITS, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, LOSS OF DATA OR DAMAGE TO PROPERTY; (iii) CLAIMS OF THIRD PARTIES; OR (iv) OTHER PECUNIARY LOSS, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OF USE, THE WEBSITE OR ANY LINKED SITE. Indemnity. YOU AGREE TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS THE FOUNDATION PARTIES FROM AND AGAINST ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, DEMANDS, ACTIONS, SUITS AND PROCEEDINGS BROUGHT BY YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY (COLLECTIVELY "CLAIMS") ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THIS SITE IN BREACH OF THESE TERMS OF USE OR THE INFRINGEMENT BY YOU OF ANY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS OF ANY PERSON OR ENTITY, INCLUDING ALL LOSSES, LIABILITIES, DAMAGES, COSTS AND EXPENSES (INCLUDING ALL LEGAL FEES) ARISING FROM SUCH CLAIMS.

As a donor, you are responsible for researching the charity, understanding how your money will be used, and understanding the tax implications of your donation. We will email you a receipt, but the deductibility of your donation depends on your individual tax situation. We are not financial, tax, or legal experts. Please do not rely on our information to make decisions about your finances, taxes or legal matters. Consult a qualified professional in your jurisdiction.
Participating organizations have chosen to actively participate in the “Sponsor Program” to be represented in the Sponsor Charity array in an effort to increase their exposure and the opportunity for more memorial donations to be made to their organization. A rate structure is agreed upon and assessed on each donation processed through that program according to each organization’s individual agreement. Giving through that program has helped many organizations realize a drastic and significant increase in net donations.
If a donation form has a line item of Convenience Fee. The Convenience fee is displayed to you prior to approving the charge to your payment card. The convenience fee is in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount reaching the charitable organization. For example, a $100 donation becomes a $101.50 transaction. The convenience fee is directed immediately to a for-profit service provider. According to IRS and CRA rules the tax deductible receipt will therefore only be issued for the subtotal amount.
My Tribute Gift Foundation seeks to distribute all funds to organizations provided they have maintained active 501c3 certification in the United States or registered charity status in Canada. MTG relies on the beneficiary organizations to maintain and keep up to date contact information on file with the IRS or CRA respectively. This must be done in order for My Tribute Gift Foundation to exercise care and reasonable efforts to distribute payment promptly, without undue cost and burden to the foundation. In the event that a payment has not been deposited 12 months from issuance, the foundation reserves the right to utilize those funds in its mission to the foundation.
My Tribute Gift Foundation reserves the right to modify, change, discontinue and suspend these Terms of Use, the Website, and/or any services offered through the Website, in whole or in part, at any time, without prior notice to you. Your continued access or use of the Website after modifications to these Terms of Use have been posted on the Website shall indicate your acceptance of and agreement to be bound by these Terms of Use as modified.
