Evelyn Houseal

Evelyn R. Tiny" Bachman Houseal, 99, of Etters and formerly of Roop Street, Highspire, died Friday, November 6, 2020 in Messiah Village, Upper Allen Twp. She was a retired Secretary at the former New Cumberland Army Depot, a former member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Highspire, and a member of Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lewisberry, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Garden Club of Highspire, Highspire Historical Society, and the pinochle club. A champion flower arranger, Tiny won more blue ribbons at flower shows than one could count. In the Spring and Summer, she loved to work in her flower beds; in the Fall, raking leaves and clearing the numerous acorns in the driveway were part of her daily activities. During the Winter months, she did not hesitate to shovel the walk and driveway of snow. Being idle was not in her nature. She and her husband, Harold (Bubbles), had more than 58 years together and spent many enjoyable adventures at their beloved cabins in Slate Run, PA, Adams County, PA and in Pine Grove Furnace State Park. A sweeter, kinder, more gracious lady could not be found. Tiny was loved by all who knew her and our lives were enriched by her love. We will forever remember her beautiful smile, shining blue eyes, and her caring and compassionate spirit. We wish to sincerely thank all who were directly or indirectly involved in her care at Messiah Lifeways. Especially though, our heartfelt thanks goes to all who cared for her with love and compassion in the Donegal Neighborhood. We will be eternally grateful. Tiny was the daughter of the late Harold and Margaret E. Rice Bachman and the widow of Harold W. Houseal. She is survived by one daughter, Debra J. Houseal Trimmer and her husband, Tom of Lewisberry; one son, Barry L. Houseal and his wife, Sheryl of Laguna Beach, CA; one brother, Gerald Bachman and his partner, Susie Zornig of West Palm Beach, FL; four grandchildren, John and Luke Trimmer and Nicole and Courtney Houseal. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at 2:00 pm in Wiedeman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 357 SOUTH HARRISBURG ST., OBERLIN, with Rev. Andrew S. Fitch, her Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Highspire Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, from 1:00 pm until the time of services in the funeral home. Current COVID-19 restrictions and guidelines for the Commonwealth of PA will be enforced. Face masks and social distancing required. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 863 Lewisberry Rd., Lewisberry, PA 17339.
