James T. Byron of Hopatcong, NJ passed away peacefully on Monday, November 22, 2021 at Morristown Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was 62 years old. James was born on June 29, 1959 in Newark, NJ to the late John and the late Catherine (Duffy) Byron.
James was a long-time resident of the Glasser Section of Hopatcong where he was a volunteer firefighter and past chief twice with 40 years of faithful service. He was employed by Mitchell Supreme in Orange, NJ for 33 years and then opened Northwood Mechanical where he worked tirelessly before retiring. James was an avid snowboarder with his granddaughters and in his younger days he was a dirt bike rider. He loved to travel and was known for working on many projects but most importantly, James loved spending time with his cherished family and friends.
James is survived by his beloved wife, Ann (Dimino), his daughter, Catherine "Katie" Byron and his cherished granddaughters, Jasmine Taddigs and Miley Taddigs. Additional survivors include his mother-in-law, Ann Dimino, his brothers-in-law, Paul Weiss and John Dimino and wife, Solweig and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. He was pre-deceased by his siblings; Peg Weiss, Nancy Polny and Jack Byron.
James's Life Celebration will include a Memorial Gathering on Sunday, December 5th from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm with a Fireman's Prayer Service and Last Call Honor Tribute offered at 1:30pm at Hopatcong Hills Fire Department Company #4, at 4 Jefferson Trail in Hopatcong, NJ.
