Frederick G. Conner, 69, of Huguenot Road, Tillson, NY, passed away while in the comforting presence of his loving family, Friday, February 18th, 2022 at HealthAlliance Hospital.
He was born in Kingston, New York on September 19th, 1952, a son of the late Sidney and Verda (Golnek) Conner-Raskoski.
Fred was employed at as a Lead Tool and Die Maker for Dyno Nobel, Port Ewen, and thereafter as a Custodian for Ulster BOCES, also in Port Ewen.
Fred was a dedicated member of the Tillson Fire for over fifty years, where he was also a life member who served in many positions of rank including Tillson Fire Chief.
He was a parishioner of St. Peters Church in Rosendale, where he served as alter server during his youth.
A member of the Wittenberg Sportsmen's Club, Fred enjoyed hunting, fishing, and ice fishing, and was also a member of the Tawaeri Taqui Snowmobile Club.
A past Cub Scout and Boy Scout Leader of Troop 17 Tillson, Fred loved children, who brought him immense joy, especially while being Santa's Helper at Christmas time. Fred had a great sense of humor and loved to serve his community.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Dawn Conner, two sons, Brian Conner, and Adam Connor, and his fiancé, Sarah Dowling, all of Tillson, one sister, Sharon Cancellaro of Hurley, one brother, William Conner, and spouse Lisa Alviera of Red Hook. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by one sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen Fusaro and her husband Patrick, and a brother-in-law, Robert Cancellaro.
The family will receive at the Gilpatric-VanVliet Funeral Home, 339 Broadway, Ulster Park, Town of Esopus, on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
There is no public procession from the funeral home to church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 24th, 2022, at St. Peter's Church, Rosendale, Rev. Edmund Burke, celebrant. Burial will follow at Rosendale Plains Cemetery, Tillson.
