Elizabeth A. “Tucky” (White) Mahoney of Newport passed away on Monday, June 14, 2021. She was born on July 10, 1938, in Newport, RI to the late Frederick and Elizabeth White. Tucky attended St. Mary’s School and graduated from St. Catherine Academy in 1956. Upon graduating, she entered the religious order Sisters of Mercy, RI as a postulant. She became a professed Sister of Mercy, taking the vowed religious name of Sister Mary Frederice, a name derived from her father’s name. Tucky was selected to participate in the order’s Education Program. She attended the Education program at Salve Regina College and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree, and later went on to graduate from Rhode Island College with a Master’s degree in Elementary Education. After 15 years, Tucky prayerfully left religious life and later met her beloved Jimmy Mahoney. They married at St. Mary’s Church in Newport, June 28th, 1975. Tucky joyfully served 25 years as an educator in the Newport Public School system before retiring in 1991. In addition to her teaching job, Tucky loved to contribute to and celebrate her community. In the 1970s, she dedicated time as the Treasurer of the Newport Democratic city committee. She was an active member of St. Augustin Church, serving as a Eucharistic minister and lector. For 20 years, she taught religious education there, eventually becoming the Religious Education Coordinator. She also served as a member of the Board of directors of the Newport Irish Heritage Association. One of her favorite annual activities was organizing a traditional Irish Tea as part of the group’s work to honor Irish heritage. Tucky was an active member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians and was named LAOH lady of the year in 2020. Tucky loved to spend time crafting and would be thrilled to have an event on her calendar for which to plan and decorate. She enjoyed creating table centerpieces for many annual church and Hibernian events. She participated in the LAOH knitting group, making prayer shawls and infant hats, all donated to Newport Hospital. She spent many hours of her summer crafting items for the church bazaar; and so many children were delighted to win one of her handcrafted dolls, nestled in a cradle which Jimmy had restored. Her love of Christmas inspired her to publish a Christmas planning book titled Christmas All Year Round which explains her “approach to Christmas as a four-season project”. True to her own advice, she left this world with presents and Christmas cards already purchased for the coming Christmas season. When she did have free time, she loved to swim, both with the Boys and Girls Club arthritis swim group, and in her own backyard pool with her grandchildren. Attending daily and weekly Mass was always her priority. She also loved to talk on the phone, bake cookies and sew. In all of her writings and letters, she expressed how much gratitude she had for the life she lived, and how much joy she found in her family, in her friends, and in God. Besides her loving husband of almost 47 years, James F. Mahoney, she leaves her daughter Meaghan Rose Mahoney Corr, son-in- law Peter Corr and her two grandchildren James “Jack” and Anne Elizabeth “Annie” Corr. She also leaves her beloved sisters Janet Rausch of Somerset, MA and Barbara Luzzi of Coventry, RI and many adored nieces, nephews, and cousins. Tucky also leaves her dearest friends since age 4: Sheila (Croughan) Chenard, Joan Coughlin, Barbie (Monticone) Mureddu and Renie (McCarthy) Tharp. She also leaves her cherished friends, Sister Mary Monaghan RSM, and former Sister of Mercy, Gert Connolly, who have all remained friends since they entered the religious order together. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, June 20 from 3:00-6:00 pm at the O’Neill-Hayes Funeral Home, 465 Spring St, Newport. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Monday, June 21 at St. Augustin Church, corner of Carroll & Harrison Avenue, Newport at 10:00 am. Burial to follow at St. Columba Cemetery, 465 Brown’s Lane, Middletown. In lieu of flowers, donations in Tucky’s memory may be made to the St. Augustin Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 357 Newport, RI 02840 or the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 573, Newport, RI. 02840.

My Tribute Gift Foundation makes this online charitable giving portal web page MyTributeGift.org (the “Website”) available to you subject to your acceptance of and compliance with these terms of use (the “Terms of Use”). Your donation will be processed through My Tribute Gift Foundation for distribution to your selected charity. Your credit card transaction record will appear as My Tribute Gift Foundation. An official tax receipt for your donation will be issued by My Tribute Gift Foundation. Donations are sent out to charities at the end of each month for all donations received in that previous month. So a donation made on the first day of the month would be sent at the same time as one made on last day. Payments would be sent either by paper check or direct deposit. Please note that the there is 3% + 35¢/transaction fee for credit card processing, My Tribute Gift Foundation collects a 5% administrative fee. These fees help fund the cost of processing all donations, issuing tax receipts, and sending all appropriate information to the selected charity. These fees are assumed by your selected charity, but you will receive a receipt for the full amount of your donation. There are NO additional costs the charity has to endure to participate and accept donations through MyTributeGift.org. According to the American Institute for Philanthropy (charitywatch.org) a charitable organization is considered “Good” if they are spending less than 30% on administration and fundraising costs. My Tribute Gift Foundation helps reduce those administrative costs for charities and allows donors to contribute to lasting memorials for their loved ones.
When donating online, if the donation form has an option to add a tip, there is no convenience fee. The tip is optional and can be adjusted before you submit your donation. The amount of the tip will be displayed to you before you confirm the charge to your payment card. Tips are in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount that goes to the charitable organization. Under IRS and CRA rules, tips are not tax deductible to the donor.
You warrant and represent that all information and materials you provide to My Tribute Gift Foundation, through the Website or otherwise, are accurate and truthful and do not violate third party rights. Indemnity. YOU AGREE TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS THE FOUNDATION PARTIES FROM AND AGAINST ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, DEMANDS, ACTIONS, SUITS AND PROCEEDINGS BROUGHT BY YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY (COLLECTIVELY "CLAIMS") ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THIS SITE IN BREACH OF THESE TERMS OF USE OR THE INFRINGEMENT BY YOU OF ANY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS OF ANY PERSON OR ENTITY, INCLUDING ALL LOSSES, LIABILITIES, DAMAGES, COSTS AND EXPENSES (INCLUDING ALL LEGAL FEES) ARISING FROM SUCH CLAIMS.
If in any part of these Terms of Use is held, by a court of competent jurisdiction, to be invalid or unenforceable, such part of these Terms of Use shall be eliminated to the extent permitted in that jurisdiction, for purposes of that jurisdiction, and the remaining Terms of Use shall otherwise remain in full force and effect.
These Terms of Use and your use of the Website are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and all federal laws of Canada applicable therein. The courts of the Province of Ontario shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of these Terms of Use or your use of the Website.
These Terms of Use constitute the entire agreement between you and My Tribute Gift Foundation with respect to the Website, except as we may explicitly agree otherwise in writing.. No delay or failure to exercise any right with respect to these Terms of Use shall be construed as a waiver by My Tribute Gift Foundation.
As a donor, you are responsible for researching the charity, understanding how your money will be used, and understanding the tax implications of your donation. We will email you a receipt, but the deductibility of your donation depends on your individual tax situation. We are not financial, tax, or legal experts. Please do not rely on our information to make decisions about your finances, taxes or legal matters. Consult a qualified professional in your jurisdiction.
Participating organizations have chosen to actively participate in the “Sponsor Program” to be represented in the Sponsor Charity array in an effort to increase their exposure and the opportunity for more memorial donations to be made to their organization. A rate structure is agreed upon and assessed on each donation processed through that program according to each organization’s individual agreement. Giving through that program has helped many organizations realize a drastic and significant increase in net donations.
If a donation form has a line item of Convenience Fee. The Convenience fee is displayed to you prior to approving the charge to your payment card. The convenience fee is in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount reaching the charitable organization. For example, a $100 donation becomes a $101.50 transaction. The convenience fee is directed immediately to a for-profit service provider. According to IRS and CRA rules the tax deductible receipt will therefore only be issued for the subtotal amount.
My Tribute Gift Foundation seeks to distribute all funds to organizations provided they have maintained active 501c3 certification in the United States or registered charity status in Canada. MTG relies on the beneficiary organizations to maintain and keep up to date contact information on file with the IRS or CRA respectively. This must be done in order for My Tribute Gift Foundation to exercise care and reasonable efforts to distribute payment promptly, without undue cost and burden to the foundation. In the event that a payment has not been deposited 12 months from issuance, the foundation reserves the right to utilize those funds in its mission to the foundation.
My Tribute Gift Foundation reserves the right to modify, change, discontinue and suspend these Terms of Use, the Website, and/or any services offered through the Website, in whole or in part, at any time, without prior notice to you. Your continued access or use of the Website after modifications to these Terms of Use have been posted on the Website shall indicate your acceptance of and agreement to be bound by these Terms of Use as modified. It is your responsibility to review these Terms of Use regularly.
