Vaclav “Jim” Hercik passed away on July 30, 2023 at the age of 72. He passed peacefully at home with his wife of 51 years and family by his side.
Jim leaves behind to grieve, his wife, Irene; brother, Milan; son, Martin and his two daughters, Sydney and Kahli, and partner, Amanda Sweeney and her daughter, Sierra Upton; daughter, Michelle and her husband, Rob and their children, Mia and Emersyn.
Jim was born in Liberec, Czechoslovakia on September 17, 1950 and immigrated to Lloydminster, Alberta with his wife and two small children in 1982. Jim’s love and skills as a carpenter and all around fix it guy will surely be missed. After many years as a carpenter, Jim wanted a change, he and Irene went on to start three successful business in the community. He then retired in 2019 spending his free time at the lake with his family and friends and taking up his love for finishing carpentry and woodworking again.
Jim will be most remembered for his kind heart, his honesty and of course his amazing sense of humor which we will all miss dearly. Any chance he got, you could find Jim watching his grandkids play volleyball, hockey and softball, he was their #1 fan. There was nothing more important to Jim than his family and friends. When you think of him, remember his generosity and willingness to help others.
He was an outstanding husband, father and supportive father-in-law, and a kind loving grandpa. We will miss his “Jimmy” fires at the lake, the sound of his saw, his humor, his smile, his presence, and his big heart.
One day our tears will dry, our smiles will return and a new chapter in our lives will start and from there “We will see what happens” He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all his family and friends. We love you so much dad, you were one of a kind!!
The Hercik and McGuire families would like to thank everyone who has shown their support during this difficult time, including McCaw funeral services. A celebration of life for Jim will be held at a later date.
Donations in memory of Jim may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or donor’s Charity of Choice.
