It is with profound sadness, broken hearts and shattered dreams that our family announces the death of Jerome in the early morning hours on Tuesday, August 29th, 2023 at the age of 72.
Jerome peacefully passed away at his home surrounded by his family and closest friends.
He was the cherished son of the late Gaspard and Celina Martin (Goure). Jerome was the beloved husband and best friend of Diane (Sterling) for 53 years and loving father of Brent Martin (Lynn) and the late Jerome Jason Martin (2019).
He was the proud Pepe of his four beautiful grandchildren Andrew (Kylie), Aiden, Raini and Joel Martin. Jerome loved his newest furry little Princess, Miss Emmy Lu. That puppy stole his heart from the moment he cradled her in his arms, she was his new Little Girl.
Jerome was the dear brother of Yolande Griffore (Alvin), Vincent Martin (Eileen), Aline Myers (Leroy), Rosaire Martin (Luann), Liz Buckwheat (Mark) and sister in-law Karen Marlatt. He was predeceased by siblings Roger and wife Geraldine Martin, Gerald Martin, Yvette Robert and husband Joe, Jackie Martin and Claude Martin.
Son in-law of the late Bernard and Fern Sterling. Brother in-law to Neil Sterling (Corrine), Linda Sterling, Charlene Hagen (Terry), Marlene Russelo (Mike) and Florence Tomlinson (Fred). Predeceased by Ilene and Larry Adams, George and Marilyn Sterling, Berneatta’s and Edwin Huff, Gary and Stella (Aucoin) Sterling. Jerome will be fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews.
Jerome’s most favourite place to be was at the Cove, his home away from home. Chilling out with his camping friends, especially around the campfire or at the 4pm Happy Hour gatherings.
Jerome loved to just putter around his home in Grande Pointe, cruising the back roads crop touring or just sitting under the big maple tree sipping a cold beer with friends. Special times for him always involved family gatherings, annual fish fry’s, Christmas celebrations around the kitchen island - always with family and friends. Jerome loved and cherished his family more than life.
The family would like to extend their sincerest thanks and gratitude to all the amazing and compassionate people involved in his care during his journey and to allow Jerome to stay in his home until the very end. Just where he wanted to be, At Home. There are so many folks to thank, we are so grateful to all of you.
As per Jerome’s wishes cremation has taken place, a celebration of his life will take place at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Life Transitions. On-line memories may be shared at www.life transitions.ca. Jerome’s legacy will be one of kindness, compassion for others, a strong work ethic, a good friend and confident. His kind and gentle spirit will forever be missed by all who knew him. Most importantly was his love and focus for his wife, his sons, Lynnie, his grandchildren and HIS GIRL, MISS EMMY LU💖
