Pebbles (Valerie) Weickert passed away peacefully at home surrounded with love and her family by her side on Wednesday October 19th 2022.
Loving wife for 35 years to Sherman Weickert. Devoted mother to Tabitha (Darren), Tasia (Joey), Meteisha (Daniel) and Tahnee (Kevin). Her cherished grandchildren Memphis, Louis, Drake, Nova, Frankie, Grey, and Avah. Loved and remembered by her mom, dad, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and friends.
Val was born in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia and moved to Ontario when she was 18. Although Val lived in Ontario many years, she never lost her Cape Breton accent or her love of going back “home”. Val was one of those people who had a heart of gold, filled with kindness; and she would welcome anyone with open arms. She left this world just as she lived - never complaining or wishing for more. Val had a few simple pleasures in her life: long hair, long nails, a serious sweet tooth and a signature style that was one of a kind. She always made time for everyone whether it was a friendly face stopping in to say hello or helping people in the neighbourhood. Val not only took care of her busy household, she also helped her husband run their business. She managed the administration and kept the books for many years, ensuring things ran smoothly.
Val’s family was her pride and joy especially her grandchildren. “Big Mama” always made everything fun with her adventurous spirit. She loved being outdoors and taught them about nature. She spent her time teaching the grandkids how to catch frogs, snakes, bugs and naming all the birds they would see in the trees. She had a love like no other for children and babies. Being a mother and grandmother gave her great happiness. She had the pleasure of spending her days raising her girls and being there for every moment of her children's lives. She was always making special treats during the holidays and filling every family event with love and laughter.
Sherman and Val celebrated their life together everyday for 35 years, not only as husband and wife, but as best friends. The love they had for each other was fierce and they were not afraid to show it. Every year they spent together the more they fell in love. They spent their summers at the family cottage soaking up the sun, swimming in the lake, fishing and having family campfires. Rainy days, they made time for boardgames. A few cottage classics are scrabble, cribbage and yahtzee. Our family is grateful for the beautiful memories we made together every summer at the cottage and will forever cherish our time there.
She has left a hole in our hearts that can never be filled. We will miss her everyday until we see her again.
Cremation has taken place, a celebration of Val’s life will be held at The Waterloo Rod & Gun in the upper hall on Sunday, November 6th 2022 at 10:30a.m., followed by a reception at 12p.m. In memory of Val, we ask that you wear purple - her favourite colour.
